We are a small Landcare group, currently 48 members, located in the Capertee Valley. Our main objective is “To engage, empower and support our community to achieve both a socially resilient community as well as a sustainable environment within the Capertee Valley”. In the last six months, in close collaboration with Local Land Services, we have engaged with more than 500 people by running various projects. Gatherings have included a tree planting week, a foraging workshop, social bushwalks, a weekly bridge club as well as community meetings to share information. In addition, we have been focused on reconnecting the Waradjiri and Dabee people to the Capertee Valley. We have hosted a bush tucker day as well as a cultural burn, attended by around 200 people combined. We have also made ourselves available for people who have newly relocated to the valley. In this way we introduce ourselves as a support network as well as connecting both socially and geographically across the landscape of the Valley.
