Employment Type: Fixed Term-Part time (35 hours per week) until June 30, 2027, with an option for renewal subject to funding.

Responsible to: NSW Landcare Enabling Program Manager

Context

Landcare NSW is the peak body of community-led conservation and natural resource management in NSW. With up to 3000 Landcare Groups and 60,000 volunteers, Landcare NSW is the conduit between local Landcare communities and funders and decision-makers, supporting local Landcare communities by providing resources and representation.

The Digital Landcare Coordinator role is funded under the NSW Landcare Program, a $59 million NSW Government-funded program to be delivered over the next four years 2023 – 2027.

The ultimate purpose of the Program is to “equitably deliver support and resources that empowers Landcare volunteers, leading to the achievement of landscape, community and industry goals”.

The ongoing NSW Government investment into the NSW Landcare Enabling Program and other large-scale projects has enabled the continued success of the organisation. Landcare NSW & LLS partners with over 50 organisations including hosts who collectively, directly employ a total of approximately 100 staff including 83 Landcare coordinators across NSW and a small corporate team, which facilitate support to local and regional volunteers. Landcare NSW and its member groups, contribute to the employment of 30,000 people including contractors, administration, support, and services in small businesses, and generates total revenues from grants of more than $30m p.a., including the NSW Government-funded NSW Landcare Program. Surpluses from the movement are invested directly back into regional NSW making it unique to the landscape management and ecosystem services service delivery market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a design and implementation plan to deliver a digital Landcare platform to improve reporting processes, promotion and knowledge sharing for the Landcare Program
  • Engage with Landcare NSW, LLS, coordinators and hosts to design and test the most effective systems/platforms
  • Brief and manage external agencies to create and deliver the required systems to meet the needs of the Landcare Enabling Program
  • Manage the rollout of the new digital landcare systems/platforms, including timeline, communication and training plan, comprehensive Q&A, trouble shooting service, maintenance and testing and system upgrades
  • Undertake daily system monitoring and troubleshooting, verifying the integrity, availability and backup of all platforms.
  • Implement and contribute to the development of operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages
  • Manage any external systems providers and ensure systems are regularly upgraded and maintained
  • Monitor, analyse, evaluate and report on the digital Landcare to ensure the selected tools are meeting the needs of the Landcare Program and demonstrate that key performance indicators and outcomes are being met
  • Collect and analyse operational data to identify emerging trends and log problem records to assist with problem resolution.

Previous Experience

  • A minimum five years of industry experience in managing and delivering IT programs and systems of a complex and multifaceted nature, preferably in the area of natural resource management.
  • Proficiency in project management, including budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Proven project management using best practice project management software and methodology is highly preferable.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Proven communication skills both verbally and in writing. Confident in addressing large groups of people. Ability to think strategically and present ideas to the team.
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement experience with the ability to navigate and understand the viewpoints of volunteers, hosts, committees, funding bodies and Government departments.
  • Proven ability to analyse processes and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and planning, time management, multi-tasking and organisational skills.

Education

  • Qualifications in information technology, project management and/or business management.
