HELP PROTECT AND RESTORE OUR LAND AND ENVIRONMENT
At Landcare NSW, we believe in the power of collaboration to create a sustainable future. Our mission is to support and grow the Landcare movement across New South Wales, ensuring that communities have the resources, knowledge, and connections to enhance our natural environment. Our vision is a thriving landscape, sustained by passionate individuals committed to land and water stewardship.
While Landcare NSW receives some government funding through grants, we are not solely government-funded. We are a not-for-profit organisation, which provides a benefit to our member Landcare groups while carrying out our purpose. Our ability to support our groups to deliver meaningful environmental outcomes depends on the generosity of donors like you. Your contributions allow us to expand our reach, develop innovative solutions, to ensure future generations inherit a healthier planet.
Thanks to your support, we have achieved incredible milestones this year, including:
- Restoration Projects
Through the Creating Canopies Project, we supported the successful planting of over 300,000 trees by the end of 2025. As Greater Sydney grows, more and more of it is affected by urban heat. This impacts on community access to the outdoors and connection to nature. We supported the team at Greater Sydney Landcare in targeting heat-affected areas to help create canopies that cool the city. Tree canopies will help to create habitat for wildlife, tree diversity, and a cooler city creating spaces that invite people back into nature.
- Private Landholder Engagement and Education
Private Land Conservation Matters, a two-year service delivery contract for the Biodiversity Conservation Trust, supported Landcare groups to host 143 events for 4,050 attendees across 12 Landcare regions. A collection of stories was captured from the events and resources developed to share the private land conservation message into the future. More information can be found here.
- Education and Advocacy
We shared Landcare success stories and case studies with local Members of Parliament as part of our annual event at NSW Parliament House. This event continues to be instrumental in creating awareness and a sense of urgency for decisive political action on behalf of Landcare across the state. - NSW Landcare Enabling Program
A collaborative initiative with Local Land Services, this program has empowered Landcarers to take action on local environmental challenges. Our advocacy for Landcare across the state, resulted in a $59 million commitment over four years. This funding supports the employment of local and regional coordinators to strengthen community-led conservation efforts. Coordinators are there to enable and support Landcare. They focus on collaboration, capacity building, improved governance and participation. - Community Engagement and Education
Through state gatherings, conferences, and regional mini musters, we have fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Landcare groups.

FUNDED PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY DONATIONS
In 2019, Landcare NSW established the ‘Landcare NSW Seed Fund’ in response to the devastating drought and fire season of the 2019/2020 summer. Our grassroots-led approach and belief that funds should go where they are needed most meant we released 100% of the funds to directly support on-ground work throughout the NSW Landcare community.
The funds helped restore and repair Landcare sites that had been destroyed or impacted by the drought and fire to rebuild to support our communities and our environment.
REVEGETATION AT GOOMBRIDGES

After the 2020 fires destroyed Landcare site, a mere 5 years old, Granite Borders Landcare applied for funding to replace trees killed by the fires. The community worked together to plant 250 seedlings and held a community planting day to help restore the site.
NEST BOX BUILDING AT WYTALIBA

20 members of the Wytaliba community came together to build nestboxes and learn about the importance of hollows for native wildlife. The boxes were built for 6 different wildlife species common the the Wytaliba region: the king parrot, corella, micro bat, brushtail possum & southern boobook.
THREATENED SPECIES SEED COLLECTION

Milton Rural Landcare worked with local specialist to collect native seeds from remnant rainforest to help create linkages and restore native canopy in response to the fires in southern NSW. The project sourced seed and propagated them in their nursery to ensure that local species survive and thrive in challenging conditions.
